Jamie Andrusyak (Lee), founded Oboe Duck Reeds in 2019 with her husband Erik Andrusyak. Originally from South Korea, Jamie is a violinist in the Illinois Symphony and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. As a violinist, she holds a Bachelors of Music and Performance Diploma from Indiana University and a Masters in Music from Northwestern University. She accidentally fell too deep into the world of oboe when she picked up the oboe for the first time at IU to fulfill elective credits. Since then, she has played Oboe & English Horn with the Northwestern Philharmonia and the Northwestern Baroque Music Ensemble. You will never meet a violinist who understands reed or oboe problems more than her!
When not behind the computer, answering customer emails, or splitting tube cane, she is usually found cooking delicious Korean meals and cuddling her cats Bocal & Lilly.
English Horn Reeds
Casey Kearney, a New York native, is an oboist and English horn player and currently on the music faculty of the Music Conservatory of Westchester. Her playing has been hailed as "exquisite" by Cleveland Classical, and she has performed with the San Francisco Symphony and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Her formal studies were at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music ('19) with Eugene Izotov of the San Francisco Symphony, at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music ('17) with Robert Walters of The Cleveland Orchestra.
When not chained to the reed desk, she enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, hiking, and spending time with her spoiled-rotten bunny, Milo.
Erik Andrusyak is the Principal Oboe of the Elgin Symphony and a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, a training program under the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Andrusyak has participated in prestigious music festivals including the Pacific Music Festival and the Music Academy of the West. He has been invited to perform as a guest with ensembles including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony, Illinois Symphony, Joffrey Ballet, Oistrakh Symphony, and the Chicago Philharmonic.
Andrusyak is originally from Russia and holds a Bachelors of Music degree from DePaul University, where he studied with Alex Klein (former Principal Oboe of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra) and Grace Hong (Fifth House Ensemble).
