Jamie Andrusyak (Lee), founded Oboe Duck Reeds in 2019 with her husband Erik Andrusyak. Originally a professional violinist, she holds performance degrees from Indiana University & Northwestern University. She has played Oboe & English Horn with the Northwestern Philharmonia, the Northwestern Baroque Music Ensemble, and various freelance groups in the Evanston/Chicago area and is currently the principal oboe for the Connecticut Valley Symphony Orchestra and rotating principal for the SECCO (Southeastern CT Community Orchestra).
When not behind the computer answering customer emails, or processing cane, she is usually found cooking delicious Korean meals and cuddling her cats Bocal & Lilly.
English Horn Reeds
Casey Kearney, a New York native, is an oboist and English horn player and currently on the music faculty of the Music Conservatory of Westchester. Her playing has been hailed as "exquisite" by Cleveland Classical, and she has performed with the San Francisco Symphony and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Her formal studies were at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music ('19) with Eugene Izotov of the San Francisco Symphony, at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music ('17) with Robert Walters of The Cleveland Orchestra.
When not chained to the reed desk, she enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, hiking, and spending time with her spoiled-rotten bunny, Milo.
Erik Andrusyak is currently the co-principal oboe at the United States Coast Guard band and the principal oboe with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra. He has previously played as principal oboe of the Elgin Symphony, and was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago (centennial season), a training program under the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Andrusyak has participated in prestigious music festivals including the Pacific Music Festival and the Music Academy of the West. He has been invited to perform as a guest with ensembles including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony, Illinois Symphony, Joffrey Ballet, Oistrakh Symphony, Northbrook Symphony, and the Chicago Philharmonic.
Andrusyak is originally from Russia and holds a Bachelors of Music degree from DePaul University, where he studied with Alex Klein (former Principal Oboe of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra) and Grace Hong (Fifth House Ensemble).
English Horn Reeds
Mayu Isom, originally from Santa Monica, CA, is an orchestral member of the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet, where she plays oboe and English horn.
Previously, she resided in Boston and was a student of John Ferrillo and Anne Marie Gabriele at Boston University. Mayu earned her Master’s degree at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University where she studied under Robert Atherholt, and her Bachelor’s degree at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University with the tutelage of Linda Strommen.
Mayu has been invited to many summer festivals such as the Spoleto Festival USA, Music Academy of the West, National Repertory Orchestra, and more.
When she’s not practicing or making reeds, Mayu’s favorite pastime is cooking and baking new things for her friends to try, and spending time with her beloved cats, Gnocchi & Toni.
