Practice cane is great if you're a beginning reedmaker and tend to ruin a lot of reeds. The best way to learn is to make lots of mistakes! Unfortunately, if you're using good cane, that could get pretty costly so we came up with "practice cane", a guilt-free way to learn and grow.
 
This cane might have gotten rejected because the cane was too soft, grainy, uneven, crooked, too "smiley", too "frowny", too wide, too narrow, or maybe because we forgot to label what shape it was.
 
Whatever the reason, it might not meet our highest standards for when we make our reeds, but it's perfect to practice tying on, scraping, and making mistakes! While you may not get the best reed out of it, you will still get the best learning experience!
